If you find any cracks, seal them firmly with silicone sealant. This sealant will prevent exterior moisture.

For treadmills, use a silicone wax that is specifically designed for treadmill lubrication. For ellipticals, applying grease onto the bushings is your best bet since the bearings are sealed. And finally, for strength equipment you want to be sure you are using a 100% silicone lubricant.
